Installing QuickPar:

QuickPar is supplied in the form of a .EXE file that will installed the main QUICKPAR.EXE file plus copies of the documentation from this web site.

You should run the exe file and choose to install QuickPar into a convenient folder on your computer (such as C:\Program Files\QuickPar). You can choose to start QuickPar at the end of the installation. The first time QuickPar is run, it will display the Options dialogue where you can configure a number of settings.

In the Integration section you can control whether or not Windows should use QuickPar when you open PAR and PAR2 files in Windows Explorer or other applications, and the Integrate QuickPar into Shell option adds a entry to the right click menu in Windows Explorer that allows you to create new PAR2 files.

The Preferred block size section is only important if you will be creating PAR2 files. You should ensure that the settings match the way you have your UseNet newsposting software configured. If you do not use the correct values, anyone downloading your postings may find that they need an excessive amount of recover data.

The Default Priority setting determines how QuickPar cooperates with other applications running on your computer. If your computer has a single CPU, then it is probably best to set this to Idle, but if you have a dual CPU computer set it to Normal.

The File Deletion settings determine whether or not QuickPar should remove incomplete and damaged files after it completes a repair, and whether or not they should be sent to the Windows Recycle Bin.

The Verification and Repair options determine whether or not the Monitor and Repair functions should be enabled by default when verifying.

What Is PAR2?
PAR version 2.0 (PAR2) is the more efficient successor of PAR (PAR1). You can use PAR2 to check whether your downloaded files were received completely and correctly and you can repair any missing or corrupt files if necessary! PAR2 divides a RAR set into 'blocks' so that the downloader can see how many blocks are missing. After that he can download that number of PAR2 blocks for reparation.

This tutorial is written for QuickPar, version 0.91.
Configuring QuickPar
After installing, open QuickPar and click 'Options'.

A. Integration.
Here you can choose to use QuickPar for PAR2, PAR(1) and SFV files. In the past you had to use several other programs for these file types but today QuickPar can read them all. The option 'Integrate QuickPar into Shell' adds QuickPar to the context menu of the Explorer, which can be very easy.

B. Preferred Block size.
This is an important setting if you want to create PAR2 files. Here you need to enter the number of 'lines' you use when posting. This number can be found in the configuration of PowerPost, where 5000 lines is the default setting. If you only use QuickPar to verify and repair files, you can leave this setting unchanged.

C. Default Verification and Repair Options.
By activating 'Monitor Automatically' QuickPar will keep watching the download directory while your newsreader is still downloading, so downloaded files will directly be verified by QuickPar. If you also select 'Repair Automatically' QuickPar will start repairing the set (if necessary) as soon as enough PAR2 repair blocks are available.

D. File Deletion.
You can let QuickPar automatically remove damaged files and PAR2 files after a successful reparation. I only use the first option because the PAR2 files still might be handy afterwards (for example to create extra PAR2 files to help other downloaders).
E. Default Priority.
Here you can assign the priority that QuickPar gets compared to other programs. The fastest recovery can be achieved by choosing 'High', but obviously that causes other programs to be very slow while QuickPar is busy repairing.

F. Other settings
When 'Quiet operation' is activated, QuickPar will not let you hear a sound when it is done verifying of repairing.

Press 'OK' to save the settings and to close the Options window.

THIS IS A VERY GOOD,(and also "Great") HOMECOMING CONCERT DVD. The atmosphere, or at least the background
props are great and go along with the music performed. This is one of those dvd's that seems to grow on you
the more you watch it. After watching it some more, I think it might very well be a 5 star concert, it just
depends on who is watching it I guess. It does have some real "gems" in it.
It consists of 24 songs (2 additional songs), and a song during the credits part. Approximately running time
95 minutes of music. It features performances from: Vince Gill, the Gaither Vocal Band, The Issacs, Marty
Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives, Ralph Stanley, George Jones, The Grascals, Dailey Vincent, Cherryholmes,
the Easters, Gordon Mote, Jimmy Fortune, Rhonda Vincent, Larry Sparks, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, and many
others. The Issacs do an outstanding job on the song "Walk On" in their performance, they seem to be making a
reference to the lengendary bluesman Robert Johnson, because in the song they sing - "If the devil is at the
crossroads waiting to make you a deal - Walk On!!! - Don't Stop" I'm referring to the story about Robert
Johnson selling his soul to the devil at the crossroads in return for guitar playing greatness. Marty Stuart
and his Fabulous Superlatives are excellent bluegrass musicians and they harmonize very well together. Doyle
Lawson and Quicksilver are excellent bluegrass musicians also!!! George Jones does a great job singing his
songs and gives great testimony about calling for Vestal Goodman, when he was in the hospital recovering
from a bad auto accident. This is followed by a song with the theme of "Call on Me - when you're ready
to find JESUS". Also you get Vince Gill performing his special song "Go Rest High on that Mountain".
After he ends it, the congregation joins in singing the song. The other musicians are very good
also, but the ones mentioned above really stoodout for me. Also, you get 2 additional bonus
songs. This dvd is more country music oriented than the Bill Gathier "Gospel Bluegrass
Homecoming " dvd's. However, I recommend both series. --Tom Keogh

Sara's wonderful and the videos are great, but there's a MAJOR technical problem with the audio on this
disc. The DVD contains soundtracks in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Surround 2.0 formats, but the Dolby
Digital 5.1 soundtrack has the front and rear channels REVERSED. This means the surround information comes
from the FRONT speakers and Sara's singing is centered between the two REAR speakers. Given the price point
I doubt RCA will repress this DVD (I can't even find a customer service email address online or on the disc),
but you should be aware of this before ordering. The great part is that the Dolby Surround 2.0 track is the
same we've been hearing until now on outlets like CMT and GAC, so the mangled 5.1 audio is no great loss.
For the price and for the fact that Sara Evans is so hot, it was worth it, but the sound mix-up loses

Old Crow Medicine Show is an old-time string band based in Nashville, Tennessee. Their music has been
called bluegrass, Americana, and alt-country, in addition to old-time. Along with original songs, the
band performs many pre-World War II blues and folk songs. They have been recording since 1998. The band
plays a wide variety of music, seeming to pull influence from any of the many musical forms that would
have been available to medicine shows of the turn of the century to the nineteen-forties, including old
time, bluegrass, country, and folk blues. Country Music Television notes the band's "tunes from jug bands
and traveling shows, back porches and dance halls, southern Appalachian string music and Memphis blues."
The band has performed at such major music festivals as CMC (Country Music Channel) Rocks the Snowys,
Bonnaroo, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Their 2007 live-performance
itinerary included shows in Boone, NC, Seattle, Lawrence, KS, Arcata, CA, Knoxville, TN, Nashville and
Boulder, CO, as well as overseas in London and Amsterdam. The band has also toured the UK several times,
including an appearance at the Cambridge Folk Festival and on the BBC show Later with Jools Holland.
They have headlined at the Grand Ole Opry, after earlier having performed at that institution's 75th
-anniversary celebration. They opened for the Dave Matthews Band in 2009.

This is an excellent new DVD release, by the "Old Crow Medicine Show". It was filmed at the "Orange
Peel" in Asheville, NC,on December 4,2008; and the "Tennessee Theatre" in Knoxville, TN on December 5,
2008. This band can rock, "Country Style". I was fortunate to get to see them live at the 2005 New Orleans,
Jazz Festival, and I saw first hand, this band rocks!!! Its kinda like what the late/great Gram Parsons
called "Cosmic American Music", or "Alternative Country", "Americana" or just plain ole "Southern Country
Rock". It's GREAT MUSIC!!!! Overall, this is the "Old Crow Medicine Show" performing at their very best.
This is 100% Pure American Southern Country Rock!!!! I Love It!!!! If you like this kinda music, then
you'll love it also, I highly recommend this one! Thanks!!!!!

Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson both are Australian alternative country singer-songwriter. For those
fans of Kasey Chambers who were thrown for a loop by the eclecticism that she brought to bear on her 2006
endeavor Carnival, there is hope: Although it comes wrapped in the polished sophistication of classic pop
and rock conventions from the 1970s, her latest set Rattlin’ Bones is a full-fledged return to the Americana
-imbued fare of her first two endeavors. Surrounded by family — her husband Shane Nicholson serves as her
collaborative partner, while father Bill and brother Nash provide instrumental and behind-the-scenes support,
respectively — Chambers transforms the simplistic straightforwardness of the affair into an endearing
collection of songs about love and loss.

Already an established artist outside of her base in Australia, Chambers, of course, had as much to lose as
Nicholson had to gain from their equal billing on Rattlin’ Bones. Consequently, it would be perfectly underst
-andable if her followers were not only to view the set with skepticism but also to approach it with caution.
It’s safe to say, however, that Chambers and Nicholson’s relationship at home has translated remarkably well
into their creative environment. In fact, neither of them has ever sounded this comfortable in the recording
studio, and as a result, Rattlin’ Bones is the best album of their careers.

Recorded on July 9 2008, this intimate performance was a one-off show at The Sydney Opera House for the
celebrated MAX Sessions. Backed by their touring band comprising Bill Chambers, John Watson, James Gillard
and Mark 'Bucky' Collins, Kasey & Shane performed for a select group of fans and family. The set opened with
the title track from the album and included live favourites 'Monkey On A Wire', 'Jackson Hole' and the new
single 'Wildflower'. Kasey also managed to keep her promise to perform one of her signature songs, 'The
Captain' accompanied by Shane on grand piano. Shane also showcased a track from his forthcoming solo album,
'Short Fuse' (Part 4). It was a night never to be repeated. Fortunately, it's been captured on DVD. The MAX

Alan Eugene Jackson (born October 17, 1958 in Newnan, Georgia) is one of the most popular country singers
of the 1990s, blending both honky tonk and mainstream country sounds and penning many of his own hits. In
his career, he has recorded twelve studio albums and several compilations, all on the Arista Nashville label.
More than fifty of his singles have reached Top 30 on the Billboard country charts, including twenty-five
Number Ones. He is the recipient and nominee of multiple awards. Jackson is also a member of the Grand Ole
Opry, and he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001.

Ten studio albums into his career, Alan Jackson takes a bit of a breather with 2006's Precious Memories,
his first ever gospel album. Not coincidentally, it's his quietest record to date, as hushed and reverent
as a Sunday service, with each track boasting little more than a piano, acoustic guitar, harmony vocals,
and maybe an organ. There may not be much musical variety to these spare, intimate arrangements, but they
suit this set of sturdy traditional gospel classics, and they also suit Jackson, who always has been eager
to pay respect to his idols and influences. On most of his albums, this reverence doesn't sound overly
reverent since he does sing loose, rocking honky tonk and indulges in a sense of humor, two things that
help illustrate his good taste. Here, every song is deliberately calm and consciously tasteful, which may
make for perfect music for church, but hardly makes for a dynamic record. As the album rolls on, the simil
-arity in tempo and arrangements gives the album a monotonous, sleepy quality; each individual track is well
crafted and sincere, but taken as a whole, it all blurs together and winds up seeming twice as long as its
37 minutes. But even if Precious Memories winds up as something slightly underwhelming, there's no denying
that this is precisely the album Jackson wanted to make, one that's consistent in tone and exact in its
vision. It may not make for everyday listening, even an album that would be played every week, yet it
would make a good soundtrack for a reflective, reverent Sunday afternoon.

This project originally started as a Christmas present for Alan Jackson's mother. She had always wanted him
to record a Gospel album and his small intimate project turned into an incredible release of favorite hymns.
On the CD, his wife and children sang backup for some of the songs, but were too shy to do so onstage for the
DVD. The DVD was filmed at the Ryman Auditorium with Alan's nephew and wife joining him to sing backup on "Tis
So Sweet in Jesus." They are RCA recording artists The Wrights. In between the songs, they have interviews
with Alan, his mother, his wife and kids. It is a very intimate reflective setting for a project very close
to Alan's heart. There are family photos dispersed through the video and bonus footage includes some family
stories and history. The family band is also introduced, showing us that Alan is not the only one with
musical talent in the group. They get together and play for local events. The DVD really shows the
closeness and solidarity that this family has. It is something that any fan would treasure in
their collection. It is a wonderful music DVD to add to your collection.

This was filmed on July 4, 2005 on the riverfront in Nashville, TN before a crowd of 100,000 plus
fans. These are very professional, seasoned muisical verterans, performing at their very best. Charlie
is excellent, the band is electric, and I really enjoy Taz DiGregorio on the keyboards, (that man can
really play"). Charlie plays some excellent guitar music and excellent fiddle music. They play most of
their classics. Some highlights include, "The Legend of Wooley swamp", "simple man", "Long-haired Country
Boy", two Gospel Classics - "Preachin, Prayin, Singin", and "Heart of my Heart", "The South's gonna do it
again", "Orange Blossom Special" and "The devil went down to Georgia". It should be noted that Charlie
Daniels has changed the words to "Long-haired country boy" from "I get stoned in the morning and I get
drunk in the afternoom" to "I get up in the morning and I get down in the afternoon". This is a welcome
change for me, the song still sounds the same. There are some great interviews with Charlie Daniels, and
he strongly lets your know, he strongly supports our U.S.Military. There is some bonus material. This is
an excellent concert dvd. The performances by the band are outstanding. I highly recommend this dvd.
